Help create a Nashville where everyone has access to therapy.
According to the State of Mental Health in America report, Tennessee ranks near the very bottom (45th) in access to mental health care.
Nashville Needs Therapy is a nonprofit dedicated to providing direct financial assistance to people seeking essential outpatient mental health services throughout the greater Nashville area.
The problem complex. Our solution is simple.
Trying to find a therapist in Nashville can be frustrating. Most people can’t afford the high cost of quality therapy, and those who have health insurance find that therapists in Nashville rarely accept it. Even when they do, high deductibles mean that people are still forced to pay out-of-pocket, and even when mental health care is covered by a policy, most insurance companies aren’t concerned about an individual’s quality of life, a couple’s marital satisfaction, or a family’s relational wellness through stressful times. They tend to only focus on medical outcomes, requiring a label that permanently diagnoses people, often unnecessarily, and sometimes dishonestly.
That’s where we come in. We offer financial assistance for individual, couple, and family therapy directly to those in need. We're creating a comprehensive mental health community that bypasses the for-profit healthcare system in favor of a radically collaborative, nonprofit model that simply takes care of people who need help.
Alongside each program, we have a network of Nashville’s best and brightest mental health providers.
The dedicated therapists, counselors, social workers, and psychologists who partner with Nashville Needs Therapy are here to fill the service gap in this city we all love by offering financially assisted mental health care directly to our neighbors in need. They are the backbone of our mission, stepping up where the traditional system falls short.
Our network providers commit to offer their services at adjusted rates or even pro bono in some cases, making therapy accessible to those who otherwise wouldn’t be able to to afford it. Together, we are building a community where mental health care is accessible, affordable, and tailored to the diverse needs of every neighborhood in Nashville.
Join us in support of our mental health programs and our provider network as we strive to make Nashville a model city for mental health care access.
We have seven programs, each serving a group in need, each with its own mental health fund.
You can give to any of our mental health programs knowing that every dollar we receive will go towards funding the mental health care of members from that group:
You can also give to our Regular Fund, allowing us to steer donations to the programs and people that need them the most.
